Support Jobs for NY Writers
“ Right now we have a proposal in both the state Assembly and the state Senate to modify the very successful production tax credit to provide an incentive to hire New York writers; this proposal is focused on hiring women and people of color, who are particularly hard hit by the lack of employment opportunities, although of course everyone would benefit if more writing rooms were located here.”
Despite more and more projects being filmed in NYC, most writing rooms are still in LA. We have an opportunity to push for local writing hires, why not take advantage of it?
The above is a straight-forward script the WGAE has put together for members and non-members alike so they can easily call up their representatives and voice their support for the legislation.
All writers benefit from more writing rooms in NYC - not just the women and people of color who this legislation is aimed at - so everyone needs to do this.

Hey guys! Riley is great!
FUCK JUDY TOWERS: A new show by BUZZ OFF, LUCILLE.
I saw this show at Sketchfest and it tore the roof off. I went in not knowing what to expect and was pretty blown away. As writers, they truly have their shit together in just getting to the point in a funny idea. As performers, they held back absolutely nothing at Sketchfest and received applause breaks DURING sketches, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. They attacked that stage and owned every second.
It’s extremely cool that such a good show is almost exclusively female written, performed, and directed, but the coolest thing is that that doesn’t matter. This show is very funny and good FIRST and foremost. I’m excited to see it again.
TOMORROW January 8th. 6:30pm. UCB CHELSEA. Reserve Tickets.
